A Timely Lesson from Job

Job 42: 10 The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold. 11 Then all his brothers and all his sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversities that the LORD had brought on him. And each one gave him one piece of money, and each a ring of gold. 12 The LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning;

 

I see two things I never before paid attention to…

  • God restored Job when he prayed not for himself but for his friends
  • I’ve never asked myself how God miraculously restored Job’s fortune

Do you have friends and relatives that are hard to pray for?

I can’t begin to imagine how hard it was for Job to pray for his “friends” under those circumstances. When he lost everything, they came along and “consoled” him by letting him know that he surely has done something to deserve the misery that has visited him and his household. Later when Job attempts to defend himself they essentially tell him he is lying. Continue reading

We’d like to hear from you

I have a blog at Cockeyed Cuckoo. I really do enjoy writing and for a while was able to get to it regularly. But, for most of us, life happens and we get distracted. In my case part of it was a house renovation that took much longer and was harder both physically and mentally than I anticipated.

Then there’s the matter of simply feeling like you have to come up with material day after day. I rather think that several articles a month is the a minimum to keep people coming back. For those of us who aren’t professional writers, that’s hard — and discouraging. So it seems easier to back off. Continue reading
