Thanks for sharing

It's amazing how much time I spend on things that seem relatively unimportant and which appear at first glance to be easy. Web site page banners are one of those things.

It has occurred to me that making a good first impression might help draw people into the site, so the effort may be justified. I sure hope so.

It would be a bit embarassing to tell how many hours I estimate I spent on this one even though I'm finally pleased with the results—which is unusual for me. There were a lot of ugly efforts before this one. The initial concept stayed the same, but the results got better and better as I worked at and prayed over this.

Anyhow…

A couple things that you might wonder about

  • Yes, that is our church
  • It's the "church cat" that has been adopted by the staff and lives a pretty good life hanging around outside, making frequent visits to the church office and being spoiled by the staff and congregation.
  • "Loving God - Loving People and Connecting the Two" is the church motto.
  • I really wanted a person on the shelf and was pleased to "appropriate" the little boy from The Journey image. Hope no one minds.

This shows how the final version of the banner was built in Photoshop Elements.

That's a lot of layers and a lot of work — but I'm really pleased with the results.
